Sermon Overview

Date: October 8th, 2017
Speaker: Pastor Michael Larrabee
Series: Heritage Series
Scripture: Acts 19:1-7

Summary: The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a powerful experience in the Christian life. Paul runs into a group of believers who had recieved John the Bapitist’s baptism, which was a baptism of repentance. But after the cross, after Jesus we have more to look forward to. The Jesus has come and He comes to baptize us in the power of His resurrection. It is a baptism of life. True the old man passes away, but BEHOLD!!!!, all things become new.

The word “Baptism” means to emerse. God desires to emerse you completely in His living Spirit. The Holy Spirit can lead you and guide you into closer relationship with God as He teaches you and empowers you for real Christ-like living. Your life can bear the fruits of the Spirit and God gives gifts of the Spirit. God desires to amazing and transformative works in your heart, mind, and soul impacting the all those around you.

Such is the power of the cross, and the purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. When Saul had an evil spirit he did evil things, when a man has an unclean spirit he does unclean things, but when a man has the Holy Spirit, he does holy things.
